Q. What is MCS206?
A. MCS206 is the document reference of the index /catalogue of documents held in the tss Plans Registry. Originally a 'hard copy only' document updated quarterly, it has now been replaced by the tss Plans Registry database. This database with direct hyperlinks to the indexed documents, forms the core of this website. The database is updated daily with changes. Hard copies of MCS206 are still available.

Q. Why can't I find documents prefixed by BA, BD, HA, HD, TA and TD?
A. These are documents that form part of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB). These are available from the HA Website.

Q. Why can't I find NMCS Installation Drawings?
A. These drawings are now Highway Construction Details. They are Highways Agency documents and form part of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCHW). These are available from the HA Website.

Q. What is the definition of the following acronyms MCE, MCF, MCG, MCH, MCS, MCX, TR, TRG, TRH?
A.
MCE
Specifications for equipment. Also see "TR's"
MCF
Specifications for works. Subject areas include; installation and commissioning, maintenance requirements for a particular installation, and supply and delivery.
MCG
Specifications for testing. Also see"TRG's".
MCH
Instructions. A general sequence for; handbooks, guides, instructions, request forms, procedures, reports and records. Also see "TRH's".
MCS
Circulars dealing with the administration of technical documents. These are internal HA documents, except for MCS 206 and 212.
MCX
Drawing sequence used since February 1982 for equipment and other items that are not site specific. Examples are; standard installation drawings, cabinets, circuit diagrams and printed circuit boards.
TR
Specifications for equipment. These specifications have been notified to the EC in accordance with Directive 83/189/EEC. Also see "MCE's".
TRG
Specifications for testing. These specifications have been notified to the EC in accordance with Directive 83/189/EEC. Also see "MCG's".
TRH
Instructions. These instructions have been notified to the EC in accordance with Directive 83/189/EEC. Also see "MCH's".
